I joined my good friends, artists Annette Werndl, Claudia Hassel, and Leonard Gabriel, to paint together in Cape Town, where we shared a studio from 1/28/25 to 2/15/25. We were all extremely taken by the natural beauty of the city, as well as by its rich cultural life, exhibiting our work in the show "How Far is Africa?", under the auspices of "The Artists' Gallery".

Thinking about this residency some weeks later, it seems to me that I was so deeply touched by the experience that I needed multiple styles to convey my feelings. I produced 3 series of works.

The first one is titled "Southern Waters". Having grown up vacationing on the Western South Atlantic beaches of Argentina, this series is an attempt to convey the linkage I felt watching the Easter South Atlantic every morning as I left my apartment in Cape Town.

The second series, "Mapping Cape Town", was inspired by the layout of the city. These works were greatly influenced by the love of rugby I share with South Africans. The city's stadium provided a constant reminder of this.

The third and final collection of works I finished is named "Cape Town Flow". This might be the most personal one of the series, but in a few words it is my attempt to put on canvas the energy I felt every single day I was in Cape Town. I felt as if there was a constant vibration on the ground and in the air, propelling people to "do".
